Apply to join our next team of AMAZING women!

Thanks for your interest in joining our next school fundraising team

This is an exclusive experience for twelve positive, proactive successful women who want to make a difference in the world. If you resonate with what I've shared I'd LOVE you to apply.

Why is there an application process?

I want to curate a diverse team of incredible women and this means making sure everyone is good fit  for one another and the project.

I'd also like to check you understand, and are happy with, the scope and limitations of the project.

Key facts to consider

There are a few aspects to consider head of being part of this unique life-changing 'giving back' experience:

If you haven't arrived at this page from our main trip outline, check this out <HERE>.

This is FAR more than just a retreat or trip!

It's an empowering 12-18 month 'giving back' experience that leaves a legacy in the world PLUS is an amazing Asian adventure.

While it's up to you how much or little you engage with the project before our trip, previous participants agreed the more you participate in pre-trip discussions/training, the more you'll get out of the whole experience.

See what this experience includes below.

Funds to raise/donate for the school

As a member of the core team you pledge to raise/donate at least £2,000 (US$2,600) by 30th June 2021. Only those who are part of our core team and raise this amount will be eligible to join our trip. By signing up to this experience you are committing to raising the above amount. If you don't achieve this by 30th June 2021, you will forfeit your deposit and place on the trip.

Your investment

What you pay to participate in this UNIQUE 'giving back' experience depends on whether you want to join us for the Bali extension and your room preference – twin or solo occupancy.

I am offering an early bird discount if you sign up* before 31st August 2020.

Due to Covid, I'm not taking deposits until January 2021 or until such a time it feels right to book travel again. All I ask you to do to secure your place is to apply below, make a £150 donation to our fundraising pot and commit to raise £2,000 within the timeframes below.

Please note these prices include a lot but EXCLUDE international flights. See below for further details of what's included and excluded.

Travelling to Lombok and Bali

You are responsible for ensuring you arrive at our hotel Lombok in plenty time to join us for the first day of the trip.

It takes around 24 hours to travel from the UK to Lombok so please consider the days you need to travel before joining us. Lombok is served by an international airport  that is well connected to large cities across Asia. Our travel agent can help you arrange a private or shuttle transfer to the hotel (approximately 1-hour from the airport).

If you're joining us for the Bali extension, you may wish to fly in to Lombok and home from Bali (Denpesar).

The exact dates of our trip will be confirmed in December 2020 once we have a full team and are confident we will raise the funds and it's OK to book travel again. We suggest you don't book flights until after this date.

Our cancelation policy

No deposit is payable until January 2021 other than a £150 donation to secure your place on the team.

With this in mind we advise that you hold off booking international travel until you’ve received this final confirmation from us.

If we receive your written cancellation between the confirmation date above and 120 days before the first day we are due to meet in Lombok, this will result in a total loss of your deposit.

If we receive your written cancellation between 46-89 days before the first day we are due to meet in Lombok, this will result in a loss of 50% of the price of this experience.

If we receive your written cancellation between 1-45 days of the first day we are due to meet in Lombok, this will result in a total loss of funds paid.

If the trip element of this experience is cancelled at any time (by either party), the funds you’ve already raised through your fundraising page will still go towards building a school in Lombok.

We reserve the right to cancel the trip if we don’t meet the minimum we require to make the school build viable within our proposed timeframe. In this situation we’ll ask you to confirm whether you’d be happy with a revised date for our trip or whether you’d prefer your deposit be refunded.

Please ensure you have valid travel insurance in place to cover you for all aspects of our trip including trip cancellation. You are advised to book flights with reputable airlines/travel agents.

All cancellation requests must be received by email ([email protected]).

Our insurance company also requires that you sign and return certain forms to us prior to your departure. These include a Statement of Psychological and Health Conditions, Release of Liability and Assumption of all Risks and Responsibility/Limitation of Liability form. You will be sent copies of these when your balance payment is due.

"

If you’re on the fence about getting involved with Alisoun’s school building project, get off and say yes! It’s a fantastic opportunity to build your network, make new friends, experience a new country and culture, and have a huge impact on the lives of young people. I can't even begin to describe the overwhelming emotion I felt when we visited the school. So many special moments I will treasure forever. I feel so proud to have achieved this and grateful to have been part of such an awesome team led by the inspirational Alisoun Mackenzie. Thank you!"

"

Joining Alisoun’s fundraising team has been an incredible experience–one I’ll never forget and not to be missed! Remembering the children at the school still brings tears to my eyes. Alisoun is an amazing leader, who brought together a great team of people and organised a fantastic trip. I also now have more friends for life and the confidence to plan another trip for myself. "

"

I decided to join Alisoun’s school project so I could do something to improve the lives of women and girls overseas, as part of a team and to have the opportunity to see the impact of working together. Visiting Cambodia and the school really brought the project alive and raised awareness of the long-term impact of having built the school. It’s also been great to raise my awareness around global citizenship and having an impact. I’m so grateful to have been involved. It’s been a joy and privilege. Thank you! "

"

This is a highly worthwhile experience where your contribution will leave a sustainable legacy–it’s been amazing and trip of a lifetime we will never forget. It’s also helped me realise that having a major impact goal is achievable and how easy it is to have a positive impact when travelling. Thanks Alisoun!"

Jackie Forbes

"

Joining Alisoun’s group has been an incredible experience that is not normally obtainable. Raising funds to build a school and then visiting it, the pupils, staff and community took the satisfaction of giving to a whole new level. What an experience!"

Frequently asked questions

The price of your trip depends on when you book, whether you'd like to join us for 5 or 10 nights and your room preference–twin or solo occupancy.

Prices range from £1,800 to £3,500. See more above.

There are early bird discounts available for team members who sign up before 31st August 2020.

Due to Covid, and uncertainties around travel, I'm not currently taking any deposits for the experience.

Instead I ask you to donate £150 towards your fundraising target when you sign up.

Deposits will be due once we confirm the final dates for the trip. This is likely to be in January 2021.

I want to make sure that being part of this project is right for you, me and the rest of the team.

This includes making sure you are happy with the scope and limitations of the project.

  1. Positive, proactive successful women from all cultural backgrounds, who want to make a difference in the world.

  2. Women who have lived an interesting life (typically over 40).

  3. Women who are interested in having more impact in the world, want to connect to a deeper sense of purpose or to take time out to do something meaningful.

  4. Women who enjoy travelling, experiencing new places and cultures, and meeting other fascinating women, from all cultures.

  5. Women who value peace, love, kindness, diversity, community inclusiveness and minimising our environmental footprint.

What you 'do' is not important although most women on the trip are likely to be womenpreneurs, business owners, leaders, founders, volunteers, consultants, professionals, career changers, thought leaders, authors, artists, well-being specialists, film-makers, non-exec directors, investors, or women who have sold their business, lived overseas or retired early.

This experience is NOT for:
  1. Men or children (under 18)
  2. Women who want to travel with their children or male partners
  3. Women with significant health issues (physical, mental or emotional). Bali and Lombok are in Indonesia. It is a hot humid country and may not have health facilities or hospitals up to the standards you experience at home. Facilities for disabled people are almost non-existent. If you're prone to illness when travelling to a developing country, or when you experience a different diet/water, please consider this before signing up. Fitness wise, Bali and Lombok are volcanic islands – they are hilly and so having a moderate level of fitness is suggested. Please seek medical advice for any health issues prior to signing up.
  4. Negative women, women who are not interested in learning about and experiencing other cultures, women who want to spend most of the time drinking, partying or gossiping.

No. It is illegal to volunteer in Indonesia as this is seen to be taking jobs from the locals.

Even it if were legal, many well intended Westerners volunteering overseas actually do more long-term damage than good. I'll be explaining more as part of the Global Citizen training that will be delivered to all team members.

Thanks but I don't need any volunteers.

I've already got a list of friends and business associates I've known for years who will be assisting as needed.

No. As we're likely to be travelling from different places, our trip will start in Kuta, Lombok.

However as you'll be getting to know other team members over the month's you're all fundraising, you may well decide to travel out with other team members.

You can fly to Lombok's international airport and get an airport shuttle or transfer to the hotel. You are responsible for travelling to the hotel in time for the start of our trip. Our travel agent can help you book the best flights and arrange your hotel transfer.

No. This is a woman-only trip, specifically for successful womenpreneurs, leaders and change-makers who want to have more impact in the world. That said, you could spend time with your family before our after our trip.

The trip is an exclusive experience for those who raise/donate at least £2,000 for the school.

How you source the money is up to you. You could fundraise or make a donation (personally or through your business).

No. There are only 12 spaces available on the trip. These will be allocated to the first 12 women who apply and are accepted onto the team.

You will forfeit your place on the trip and any funds you've paid towards this.

Any funds you've raised/donated through your fundraising page will still go towards the school.

Our cancelation policy

We intend to confirm the school build and final trip dates by the end of December 2020. No deposit is payable until after this date, other than a £150 donation to secure your place on the team. Your 25% deposit is payable in January 2021.

With this in mind we advise that you hold off booking international travel until you’ve received this final confirmation from us.

Yes of course you can, we'd be delighted to have your support!

Anyone who pledges to raise £2,000+ will be set up with their own fundraising page you can use to gather, process and track donations.

If you don't want to commit to raising this much, you're welcome to process donations through our team fundraising page.

Please do however get in touch so we know what you're doing and can keep you updated with info about the school.
